Our Story

Community Cafe started the way most good things do – because someone saw a problem and couldn’t look away.

In 2020, when COVID-19 shut the world down, families in the 2168 postcode were hit hard. Jobs disappeared. Shelves were empty. Kids were going hungry. Kirsty Parkes, a local mum with a big heart and a small driveway, started handing out whatever food she could get her hands on to anyone who showed up.

That driveway became a movement. What started as one woman and a fridge turned into a team of volunteers, a network of donors, and eventually a registered charity operating from Miller in South West Sydney.
